NEWCASTLE ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY
ENGAGEMENT | Jie & Madelynn – Newcastle Engagement Photographer
Jie & Madelynn are all about expressing themselves through various forms of art, such as the ink on their skin, Madelynn’s pin up modelling/photography background & even Jie’s past, writing music for a Newcastle alternative/indie band. So of course they were more than willing to just trust me with their Newcastle engagement shoot & place no limitations on my creativity. Which was awesome!!
I wanted to use a location I’d never had the chance to shoot at before, mainly due to it being so far from well… anything! To get there we had to travel up one of the bumpiest roads in NSW. It was a pretty rough road that was commonly used for log trucks, which meant it was pretty chopped up. However, once we reached the pine forest it was definitely worth it! These guys kept it real, no lame poses, no matching white shirts & blue jeans, no cliche-ness (Hey it’s my blog, so I can create my own words)…
Really, we wanted to just keep it original & capture exactly who they are as a couple.
We started the shoot in the middle of the pines, with the gold tones of the trees & the perfect lighting helping to create something incredible. After we’d been there for a while we made our way down towards the waterfall, Madelynn & Jie were so laid back. We stopped at various places along the way, finding patches of light that filtered through the canopy of the trees, illuminating the path.
Once we got to the waterfall we were surrounded by a limitless landscape full of rich colours & textures! A fallen log lay across the river, we also found a little wooden bridge a bit further down, both of which we utilised to create some great images!
Madelynn & Jie it was great getting to hang out with you both and have some fun creating these images just for you!
I can’t wait to photograph your wedding day in 2017!
